Simone Elkeles is a New York Times and USA Today bestselling author with the profound ability to connect with young adults through her detailed and enticing storytelling, masterful development of characters, and delicate creation of relationships that seem to come alive in her novels. The Illinois Association of Teachers of English voted Elkeles Author of the Year in 2008 for exceptional skill in young adult writing. Elkeles’ books have been among YALSA’s Top Ten Quick Picks for Reluctant Young Adult Readers, Popular Paperbacks, and Teens Top Ten list. Her works have also graced the Illinois “Read for a Lifetime” Reading List. Her most popular work, Perfect Chemistry, was awarded the prestigious RITA Award from the Romance Writers of America.
Elkeles grew up in the Chicago suburbs, where she still lives today. After receiving her Bachelor’s of Science in Psychology from the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign in 1992, Elkeles went on to Loyola University-Chicago to receive her Master’s in Industrial Relations.
A loving mother of two children (and two dogs,) Elkeles spends her spare time as a devoted Girl Scout Leader and Hockey Mom and loves being with her family. She writes about teens because of the dynamic nature of their relationships and emotions, but also to share valuable life lessons about love and life with her readers.
