Noreen Nasir, a GCHS alum (class of '07), is a U.S.-based broadcast journalist with international and domestic reporting, producing, editing and copy-writing experience. She is currently a video producer and editor at The Associated Press in Washington, D.C. Previously, she was a broadcast producer at the PBS NewsHour. Noreen graduated from the Medill School of Journalism in June, 2011.
In the past, she interned as an assistant producer at Al Jazeera English's Fault Lines, and a video producer and reporter at Express 24/7 News in Lahore, Pakistan. She also spent time working with Democracy Now! as a social media and online outreach assistant and freelanced with Free Speech TV. In 2009, she received the Eric Lund Global Research and Reporting Grant to report on the education system in a slum of Hyderabad, India.
When she's not writing or reporting, Noreen enjoys exploring new places, hiking and drinking coffee. Her passions lie in human rights (in the U.S. and abroad), education, and South Asian culture and history.
