Author and storyteller, Jim May was born in a small farming town called Spring Grove, Illinois. His stories have taken him across both the United States and Europe where he has spoken at festivals, professional groups, corporations, schools. May is known in Chicago for his appearances on WGN’s Roy Leonard Show and from the Studs Terkel radio show on WFMT-FM. He also won a Chicago Emmy award in 1989 for a WTTW-Channel 11 production of his original story, “A Bell For Shorty.” When May writes, he does it to not only entertain, but also to enchant his readers. He wants to reestablish live storytelling as an art form. He feels it should not only be for entertainment or education purposes but also for healing and grounding.
